summer was supposed to be slow

I am tired! No complaints, I have a job. A great job. But the last month has been way beyond a lot to do. I still have a bunch to do before I take vacation next week. I can’t imagine the stuff that will need to be done upon return. That’s the reason I have a hard time taking a vacation. Plus we’re just hanging around town. Real vacation in August.

What are you doing this summer to refresh, renew, replenish, or re anything else? For a lot of folks that is a most difficult task. I was raised up to believe that “real men” work all the time to support the family. You don’t take time off or someone may step in and take your job.

“Real Men” that don’t want to burn out take time off. You need it, your wife and children need it, and your church needs it. If you are afraid that the church will fall apart when you leave, then there is something seriously wrong with the church. I think sometimes the real fear for pastors is that they may discover the church continues without them.

Set up systems – Take time off – Come back ready to take the mountain. It’ll be there when you get back.
