late breaking news

in the Christian Index (the paper of the GBC, i know i’m still a baptist at heart) today is this late breaking news: “A 2003 study released by Purdue University revealed…”

Evidently we just got the news, oh yeah, the study revealed that Baptist were the fattest group of religious people in America, duh!!!! it’s all that fried chicken and country fried steak and GRAVY, wooo dawg we know how to eat! only problem is that it’s killing us. i heard a comedienne say one time, when he grew up gravy was a beverage like iced tea. that’s the way i grew up. big ole biscuits and gravy for breakfast, cornbeef gravy, sawmill gravy, roast beef gravy, brown gravy, white gravy, even onion gravy (chop up the onion add it to the roue and saute for a few minutes till you add the milk or cream, ummm) diabetes, heart problems, obesity, high cholesterol, poor circulation, i think i have a disease for every gravy.

if you’re interested: here’s the list: baptist, fundamentalist (i thought most baptist were), piestic protestants (you methodist), non-denoms, reformation (you presbyterians are pretty healthy), catholic, non-traditionalist (jeh wit, mormon, 7th day, christian science), jewish, and other non-christian.

so what group do you fit in? me i’m working toward the methodist body, don’t know if i’ll ever reach the non-traditionalist, but then i’m not having to work my way to heaven like these guys are. here’s to being a good healthy middle of the road reformation body. if it’s good enough for Calvin, it must be good. :)

seriously, the methodist church conducted an initiative a few years ago among their pastors and churches to move them toward a more healthy lifestyle. my understanding is that health insurance for methodist pastors went down almost 10%. that is pretty amazing. well here’s to your health, and oh, pass the gravy. i’ll put it on my tofu steak.
